Today is Small Group Sunday. Take a moment and stop by the Small Group table to see the many opportunities to become a part of a small intimate gathering. There will be Small Group leaders at the table for you to speak with. There is also a sign-up sheet if you’re interested in becoming a member of a group. And if you would like to start a group, you can get more information about that also!

Our last “What’s It Like?” session will be today, August 29: “What’s It Like to Live in Exile from Your Home Country of Iran?” Hamid Azimi and Nazrin Saifi will share their amazing story with us. Come to listen, learn, and build-up our community of truth-telling and relationship-building!

Volunteers needed to help stock the Giving Freezer! We will be cooking up some care and comfort in the church kitchen from 1 to 3 PM THIS afternoon, August 29, 2010. Please join us in reviving this important component of pastoral care. We need all skill levels to help in food preparation, cooking, and clean up, and we desperately need donations to help cover the cost of food and supplies. Please, if you are able to contribute talent, time, or treasure, contact the new Giving Freezer Coordinator, Susan Pearson at (707) 494-5049, or sign up to join us on the clipboard in Farlander Hall.

Wretch Like Me is journalist David Templeton’s sweetly hilarious, award-winning “one-sinner-show,” an energetic theatrical journey through his outrageous days as a teen fundamentalist puppeteer in the 1970s. A very funny coming-of-age story about faith, fervor, and hard lessons learned in the midst of the early Evangelical movement, this very special show is now playing at Santa Rosa’s 6th Street Playhouse, 52. W. 6th Street. Remaining show times: Sunday, August 29 (today!) at 2:00. Visit www.6thstreetplayhouse.com(click on the yellow happy face) or call 707-523-4185.

Thank You: I want to express my appreciation to all who have offered their thoughts and words of condolence following my father’s death, especially those who honored the “Don’t Hug Deana” rule. (Dale’s don’t hug, might explain a few things.) I want to thank the Guild for handling the reception following the service, stepping up to help my mother and me was very nice. And thanks to Harold Julander for playing Sousa on the Sunday after the service. My dad did like good Sousa march.
A message from Jose Ramirez:
Hi folks, Maggie has decided to take a break from her volunteer work, managing Our Church of the Incarnation Gift and Bookstore. I would like for all of us to give thanks to Maggie for the wonderful job she did while on this special volunteer duty. I want to let everyone know in our congregation, I will be available to serve the best way possible as our new volunteer manager. It is ”OUR” Gift and Bookstore, I am open for new ideas and suggestions.
A message from the Pastoral Care Committee: Every so often, members of the pastoral care committee conduct an All-Parish Check-in. We try to connect with every member of the parish to check-in, update our information, and ask if there’s anything you’d like us to know about or pray for. You can expect a call sometime in the month of September – we’re looking forward to connecting with you!

Are you a photographer in your spare time? We are looking for professional-quality photos for our website! Please contact Mitch Garcia for more info: manmgar@gmail.com.

Want to Hear an Alarming Thought??? Please heed the NO RIGHT ON RED at the intersection of Humbolt Street and College Avenue. If you are stopped by a policeman, your fine will be $270. (The same as if you ran a red light!) More than one of us has been stopped, don’t let it happen to you! And remember: there is no law that says you HAVE to turn right on red. If in doubt, don’t do it!

Rummage Sale Thank You: The Guild of the Incarnation would like to thank all who worked so hard preparing, marking and selling the items for the Rummage Sale a couple of weeks ago. And a big Thank you to those who cleaned out their closets, garages and storage areas and brought things down for us to sell. We really had a superior grade of Rummage to sort through and sell. We gave away many items for organizations that needed them. We gave a crib, high chair and baby seat to the Pregnancy Counseling Center. St. Andrews received several large boxes of clothing that we had not sold for their outreach programs, and the Half-way house on corner of Humboldt and Cherry Streets took home blankets, sheets and towels for the use of those who live there. Every child who came into the Hall took home a toy, game or teddy bear. We had a very successful sale. The most important part of the Rummage sale was all that we could give away or sell at very low prices. This money will go into the Guild’s outreach funds to be given when needed or at the end of the year. As hard as the women work, we also have a wonderful time together, sharing our time, efforts and our lives with each other. We offer a Thank You to Ernie for his help and a huge THANK YOU TO ERIC! He is always so ready to help to make things easier for us.

Come to a Women’s Retreat! The retreat focus is “Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts.” The weekend is intended to provide time for personal prayer and reflection, worship, small group lectio divina, music, art and fellowship around that theme.
We Need Your Pictures! In order to put together our pictorial directory we need your photos depicting fun social events, parish life, worship services, music, youth activities, outreach efforts, Numina, or St. Andrews in the Redwoods. Basically anything church related since 2008 (the more recent the better). Please email your photos to Linelle@sonic.net, or drop the prints off at the Welcome Center (they will be returned to you). Thank you for your help!

The Evening Women’s Group will meet on Tuesday, July 20 at 7 pm at the home of Marti Kennedy. All women are welcome to join us. We are a supportive group providing a place to share our lives and our spiritual journeys with each other, building friendships as we go. If you have any questions, please contact Donna Wiuff at (707) 837-8768.

CHANGE TO LAST DAY OF PHOTOGRAPHY! We had to change our last day of photography with Olan Mills to Thursday, July 22nd. Hopefully more people can make this new date! We need at least 21 families, and only 7 have signed up thus far. If you haven’t yet had your free photo session please call Amy Nykamp at 707-586-8916 or email family@nykamp.us. Remember, everyone photographed gets a free 8×10 of their choice, and a free directory.

To all those possibly interested in the EFM class that will begin this September, there are still three slots open. For a good description of the EFM program, please check the church’s website (www.incarnation-sr.org). If you are still interested or have questions, you can contact Patrick Lancaster at 707-483-3949. The deadline for enrollment is fast approaching, so again, if you are interested, contact Patrick no later than July 18. Thank you.

Information for all of you who have Kaiser Health Care: Do you know that for $5.00 and a visit to the Medical Secretaries office at Kaiser in Santa Rosa you can buy a flash drive or memory stick for a computer which you can carry with you (many people keep it on their key-ring) and contains all your medical information? All they ask is that you sign an authorization release, give them a 6-12 character password, containing both letters and numbers, and pay the $5.00. They will then transfer all your medical information to the “stick” right on the spot and you are good to go. In the event of an emergency, anywhere in the world, this flash drive can be inserted into a USB port in a computer and viola-the EMT or emergency room staff or a doctor in your son’s hometown (where you may get sick while you are on vacation) has access to all your medical information. You do not need to have a computer yourself for this-just carry it with you at all times. The Medical Secretaries office is located in the main hospital building, right across from the elevators on the first floor. They are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 5 pm and close daily from 12:00 to 1:00 for lunch.

The Incarnation Cares Pastoral Care Team is looking for someone interested in learning about and sharing current information about prescription financial aid programs with members of our congregation. It’s hard to navigate through the multiple sources of aid available to people who may have entered “the doughnut hole” or have inadequate insurance coverage. If you have knowledge in this area, please contact Pastor Gail (707-579-2604 ext. 103 or pastorgail@incarnation-sr.org) or Jan Saucer (707-838-2899). Thank you!

Father Matt needs someone on Sunday between 8 & 9 am to hang out in Farlander Hall. We have a few folks who come by for coffee and cake before the Eucharist and a few remain. There have never been any problems, you can drink coffee, eat cake, visit with your friends or stay in the kitchen. A responsible presence is needed. A commitment to one Sunday a month would be desirable. Talk to Bob Gebhart, Barbara Avery or Carolyn Rausch if you can help or call Claire in the Church Office. “In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love.” -Mother Teresa

Don’t forget, we have changed to our Summer Schedule: 8 am and 10 am Sunday Services. We will go back to our three-service schedule on September 12th, 2010.

A message from the “Things get worse before they get better” Department: starting tomorrow, June 7th through the 11th there will be grinding and repaving of Cherry & Humboldt Streets. There will be little to no vehicle traffic between 7 am and 4 pm on those dates. However, there will be pedestrian sidewalk access. Please plan accordingly if you are coming to the church this week.

Incarnation Graduates 2010 ~ We have two different kinds of graduates to honor this year: High School Graduates and EFM (Education for Ministry) Graduates. We commend you for your time and energy spent these past 4 years. Each one of you brings something unique and special to our community. Congratulations on a job well done!

EFM Graduates:
Mitch Garcia
Margaret Guilford
Patrick Lancaster
Lois Phillips
Diane Schoenrock
Daphne Vernon

Last of the Pipe Organ Mini-Recitals for this season will be held on Friday, June 11th, at 6 pm. Doug DeForeest, local organist and current dean of the local Redwood Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, will be playing a program of music by Richard Purvis. Purvis was long time organist at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco and was known for his richly registered improvisations and compositions. Doug will be “drawing out” of our Cassavant (by “drawing” on the many colorful stops) as close a rendition to the original as possible. Come and enjoy. Dinner at a local restaurant to follow with artist and other interested parties!

Experience the music of 12th century Abbess Hildegard von Bingen the way she herself shared it with the women and men who sang with her – as a gentle, contemplative practice of listening and singing together. Through the Ear to the Heart meets on Monday evenings from 7 to 9 pm, in the Church. No previous experience with the music of Hildegard or with medieval music is required. Everyone who loves to sing, or who has always wanted to sing, is welcome. Sponsored by Numina Center for Spirituality and the Arts.

The Evening Women’s Group will meet on Tuesday, June 15th at 7 pm at the home of Donna Wiuff. All women are welcome to join us. We are a supportive group providing a place to share our lives and our spiritual journeys with each other, building friendships as we go. If you have any questions, please contact Donna Wiuff at 707-837-8768.

Camping: fun, fun, fun! Incarnation members are going camping together during the weekend of June 25-27 at Hendy Woods State Park. You can choose to play in God’s playground by swimming in the swimming hole or hiking, or you can relax in the midst of his Creation, or do it all! Space is limited so sign up soon by calling Stephanie Blair at 707-837-2972, or by emailing her at StephChristel@gmail.com. Cost will depend on the final number of people who sign up, but is anticipated to be about $20 per person.

Pastoral Care: Information for all of you who have Kaiser Health Care! Do you know that for $5.00 and a visit to the Medical Secretaries office at Kaiser in Santa Rosa you can buy a flash drive or memory stick for a computer which you can carry with you (many people keep it on their key-ring) and contains all your medical information? All they ask is that you sign an authorization release, give them a 6-12 character password, containing both letters and numbers, and pay the $5.00. They will then transfer all your medical information to the “stick” right on the spot and you are good to go. In the event of an emergency, anywhere in the world, this flash drive can be inserted into a USB port in a computer and viola-the EMT or emergency room staff or a doctor in your son’s hometown (where you may get sick while you are on vacation ) has access to all your medical information.
