Adult Spirital Formation

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is Adult Spiritual Formation?

Adult Spiritual Formation is the name this faith community gives to being involved in the on-going process of deepening our relationship with God.

Educational classes, book discussion groups, workshops, small groups and various ministries all have the potential to contribute to this growth. This formative process focuses on the adults in the congregation. The children’s formation comes under the heading of Children and Youth Ministries.

2. What are some of the offerings in Adult Spiritual Formation?

Education for Ministry, Inquirers and Seekers, Via Media, Tuesday Morning Book Group, Centering Prayer Workshop, Numina (The Center for Spirituality and the Arts) Events, and Small Group Gatherings. There are also many other opportunities for spiritual development during the liturgical seasons of Advent and Lent.

3. How do I sign up for these offerings?

Education for Ministry begins in the fall and registration needs to be completed in the summer. Watch for news about next year’s registration in the late spring or early summer.

Via Media begins in January. Call the church office or put your name on the sign up sheet in Farlander Hall.

You can join the Book Group on any Tuesday morning. New books are introduced several times throughout the year. The church web site, the newsletter, the weekly announcements and the church service leaflet have information about various offerings. New members are welcome in most of the Small Group Gatherings. To join any of the Small Groups, or if you would like more information about Small Groups, please contact Mitch Garcia at (707) 703-4162 or you can email him at: smallgroups@incarnation-sr.org.

Workshops with a particular focus, such as the Centering Prayer Workshop, are held throughout the year. Watch for news of upcoming workshops.
