Small Groups : Prayer + Contemplative
Anam Cara
Contemplative, Prayer Community
Anam Cara (soulfriend) is a group that gathers weekly to spend time in silent, meditative/contemplative prayer, and in discussing ancient and contemporary spiritual practices and disciplines that lead us to a deeper responsiveness to God.
Prayer of the Heart
We meet about once a month, to practice the Prayer of the Heart (The Jesus Prayer) together, to support and enhance our individual practice (if we have one). Everyone who wishes to practice the Prayer of the Heart in a group is welcome.
Morning Prayer
This community gathers each morning in the church at 8 AM (except Wednesdays) for a half-hour of prayer and meditation. After prayers we meet in the library for fellowship, and a light breakfast. This is a wonderful way to start your day. All are welcome!
Centering Prayer
This community meets every Monday from 5:00 - 6:15 pm in the Clergy Conference Room.
Centering Prayer is a technique of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, prayer in which we experience God's presence within us. This practice of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. All are welcome!
